Mears Foundation Scafell Pike Challenge: Success!

48 dedicated colleagues took on the Mears Foundation Scafell Pike Challenge, overcoming harsh weather conditions to reach the summit of England's highest mountain. The event raised an impressive £37,000 for community projects!

A brave group of 48 colleagues faced drizzle, rain, and poor visibility. Despite this, the team successfully ascended England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, showcasing incredible determination and team spirit.

The challenge began in Seathwaite and concluded at Dungeon Ghyll, covering a demanding 17km route with a 1063m ascent and 1092m descent.The journey was not for the faint-hearted, but our colleagues' perseverance paid off.

 

Thanks to the commitment of participants and the generous support of donors, the challenge raised over £18,500. With Mears Group's pledge to match every penny, the total funds raised reached an astonishing £37,000! These funds will enable the Mears Foundation to continue supporting vital projects, making a significant impact on the lives of the vulnerable and isolated.

 

Heather Tyrer, General Manager of the Mears Foundation, shared her pride in the team, stating, "I am so proud of everyone who has given up their time to train for this event, battle the elements, and tackle the tough route in support of the Mears Foundation."

 

Also, a participant, Steven Harris said: "Thank you to the team for organising such a great weekend. It was my first time on one of these, and I’ve really enjoyed it, even if my knees are paying for it now.Looking forward to next year!"
