Our annual Mears Foundation Golf Competition reached its exciting conclusion on August 30th, with Thomas Gilchrist emerging as the 2024 champion. Held at the Ailsa course at Trump Turnberry, Ayrshire, this year’s competition proved to be a spectacular event.
The competition, which began in April, saw thirty of our dedicated team members take part. With each player contributing entry fees and additional funds throughout the tournament, we are proud to announce that nearly £20,000 has been raised for the Mears Foundation over the past four years. This year alone, the event generated £2,960, which has been generously matched by Mears, bringing the total raised to an impressive £5,920.
The atmosphere throughout the competition was friendly, building new connections among colleagues who previously may not have known each other.
Tam Gilchrist said: “It's a great competition and is supported by all the branch to pay to enter and pay their way through the full competition. We raised a fantastic amount of £2,960 this year, which is matched by Mears therefore the total towards good causes is £5,920. I want to say a big thank you to everybody who took part, by either playing or donating towards the total raised. It was a fantastic course to round off the final and the weather was a bonus!”
We thank all participants and supporters who contributed to the success of this year’s golf competition. Your involvement has made a significant impact, and we look forward to the future golfing events!
